I knew that just being sad was not going to change things, however, so we slowly accepted our new reality and planned for a trip over there while I was on maternity leave. And it was lovely. My parents had found a place large enough for many guests, and their condo (big house, really) had a view of the ocean and was a quick walk to the beach. Then there were the mountains, lush forests, hiking and biking trials, seafood, amazing restaurants and sights. I quickly began to appreciate the things that drew them out here. Since that first trip, we have come back many times. I found the silver lining in their leaving me: they can host us in a spectacular place while serving us fine meals in wonderful company. So thanks for a great time, you two.
