Today marked the culmination of 2 weeks of Singer's Theatre camp for M-cat and G-force. Excitement was high as they were ready to perform twice today. As I watched them take the stage, my heart burst with this pride and thrill of seeing my kids perform. M-cat looked so little up there, with a sweet small voice in black high top shoes. G-force was completely immersed in her role, and her solos gave me goosebumps. The whole show was amazing, really, and just the right length. I didn't even hear a peep out of Chuckles, who had no clue about the storyline, but was still entranced with the music and characters.
I had hopes of seeing both performances, (as any proud stage mother would), but my plans were thwarted by THE BIG STORM. Crazy winds, massive downpour, lightening, thunder made me want to head to the basement and brace myself for shattering glass. Thankfully, there was none, but some huge branches came down in front of our house and our neighbours, blocking the road. That is, until the neighbours started pouring out of their houses, saws in hand, and cleared up the mess in impressive town. It was all a pretty awesome showing of community spirit, in fact. Added to the drama was the move-in-process for our new neighbours, who paused the moving of furniture to grab and saw and join in the clean up efforts. Welcome to the neighbourhood.
We explored the damage a bit while Paul headed off to the show, and captured a few photos.
And the end, we had cake on the front porch, puzzles and crafts by candlelight, then off to bed, glad to be safe.
Flow is the antidote
